SERVICES

Physiotherapy can be beneficial at the first sign of a problem and can stop a minor niggle developing into a major problem. Research has proven that people who seek physiotherapy early after an injury have shorter recovery periods than those who wait.

Remember: You don't need to be referred by your doctor to seek treatment. You are more than welcome to bring a family member or your coach to your sessions.
Clients under 16 years must have a parent/ guardian with them during all sessions

What is Physiotherapy?

At your first appointment Jackie will take a thorough history related to your symptoms, followed by a physical assessment so that the correct treatment can be executed as quickly as possible. An appropriate individual management plan will be discussed with you and Jackie will organise further investigations if appropriate. Advice and measures to prevent further pain/injury will be discussed and suitable pain relieving modalities may be applied. These may include electrotherapy or joint mobilisations, manipulation, acupuncture or soft tissue work. Further re-educational strategies such as stretching or strengthening exercises may also be instigated according to the clinical presentation of your problem.
Together we will discuss and plan the best treatment options which will always be carried out on a one to one basis at the clinic. The first session usually lasts up to one hour with follow up sessions lasting up to 45 minutes.

Treatments offered

This is the mobilisation/manipulation of joints and soft tissues with a ‘hands on approach’. Jackie has extensive experience in manipulation and uses these techniques as a treatment priority before implementing any exercise regime.

Re-adjustment whether by mobilisations or higher velocity thrust techniques helps to re establish the body’s natural realignment and hence reduces the stresses placed on those tissues.

Jackie’s philosophy and treatment approach is to encompass the whole body and explore all of the relative clinical factors/injuries which may have predisposed you to having the present symptoms.
Be prepared for a detailed assessment!

Manual therapy

Preventing injury and optimising performance is beneficial to us all, whether on the sports field, at work or at home.
Jackie utilises her expertise through a comprehensive assessment of spinal alignment, muscle imbalance, biomechanics, flexibility and gait analysis. She will provide appropriate guidance to help you correct these faulty movement patterns or postures.

The aim is to minimise the risk of further injury thus enabling you to enhance your performance or move more efficiently.
A customised exercise program based on your functional limitations as a result of your injury will be developed. Integration of your exercises within your existing training program and close work with others involved in your management e.g. coach, will help to maintain a seamless transition from injury through to performance.

Work or home related ergonomics may also have to be investigated with appropriate intervention strategies applied or suggested to relevant organisations e.g. employer.

Performance Movement and Rehabilitation

The development of Jackie's sports specific massage skills evolved through elite level contact with Olympians treated within the competitive environment and secondly by personal tuition with leading Sports Massage experts.

Soft tissue therapy can encompass the additional use of holistic massage, soft tissue release, trigger point work and myofascial therapy where needed and appropriate to your clinical issues. Jackie has attended a multitude of postgraduate courses to develop these skills and utilises them as an adjunct to support your recovery.
